What is the National Disability Data Asset (NDDA)?

A computer with data on it. There are a group of people pointing at themselves with their hands raised.

The National Disability Data Asset (NDDA) will be a new way to link data about people with disability.

When we talk about data, we mean:

A person holding up a piece of paper with a tick on it.

  • facts

A person holding a clipboard with an information icon on it.

  • information

A folder saying Records.

  • records.

The NDDA will get the data from:

A group of people reading a document together.

  • different parts of the government

An icon of a survey, with checkboxes and a section to write in.

  • surveys.

The NDDA will also get data from organisations that:

A person with their hand around someone else.

  • work with people with disability

A data icon with an arrow pointing to a government building.

  • give data to the government.

The NDDA will include data about people’s lives, such as:

A group of high school students.

  • school and learning

Two men in working uniforms reading an iPad.

  • their work and how they earn money

Two people shaking hands with a government building in the background.

  • what support they get from the government

A person pointing at themselves and a health icon.

  • health care.

A person holding a clipboard with Outcomes written on it.

The NDDA will help us understand the outcomes for people with disability.

Outcomes are the important results we want to get for people with disability.

Why do we need the NDDA?

Good data can make it easier for people with disability to:

A person with disability using a laptop.

  • find and use services

A person with their hand raised to say something.

  • speak up for what they need.

Good data can also help:

Two government buildings.

  • governments

Three people, one of them is pointing at themselves.

  • providers – organisations that deliver a service.

A thumbs down with an arrow pointing to a thumbs up. A hand holding a services icon is beneath.

If governments and providers get good data, they can make their services better.

This can help them meet the needs of people with disability.

A person supporting someone else.

The NDDA is one way to show everyone if people with disability are getting the services and supports they need.
